Ajman Lands holds a workshop on Combating Corruption and Fraud

The Internal Audit Office of the Department of Lands and Real Estate Regulation in Ajman held a workshop on Best Practices for Combating Corruption and Fraud, presented by Mr. Issa Al Dhaheri from the UAE Internal Auditors Association, in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Omar bin Omair Al Muhairi, Director General of the Department, and a number of employees and officials from various departments and administrations

The workshop participants learned about the tools and capabilities of combating fraud, early detection of fraud cases and methods of reporting them, in addition to identifying the responsibilities of combating fraud and ways to avoid and prevent it by using effective and integrated internal control systems and benefiting from the best international practices in this field.

During this workshop, which focused on the “Fraud Triangle”, lessons learned from practical cases were extracted, as participants were able to apply their acquired knowledge to a group of realistic cases and examples and address them through the mechanisms and controls followed in this regard.

His Excellency Eng. Omar bin Omair Al Muhairi, Director General of the Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation, stressed the importance of qualifying employees and providing them with the necessary knowledge and tools to confront all possible types of fraud by implementing proactive measures and strong controls to deter and prevent fraudulent activities before they occur, in addition to developing a strategic plan to address and mitigate the impact of fraud once it is discovered.

He explained that the Department is keen, through its partnership with the UAE Internal Auditors Association, to enhance and fortify its institutional system by using monitoring and analysis techniques to identify and detect fraudulent activities immediately and effectively, using innovative, modern methods that ensure the highest levels of quality and accuracy.
