Committee for expropriating property for public benefit holds a coordination meeting with the Department of Lands and Real Estate Regulation
The “Committee for expropriating property for public benefit” chaired by H. E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi held a coordination meeting with the Department of Lands and Real Estate Regulation. During the meeting held at the department, the participant addressed the committee’s work mechanisms, its functions and complementary role, as well as ways to accelerate work and achieve the main common goals.
The meeting was attended by H. E. Eng. Omar bin Omair Al Muhairi, the Director General of the Department of Lands and Real Estate Regulation, and members of the committee, H. E. Saif Ahmed Al Suwaidi, H. E. Youssef Mohammed Al Nuaimi, H. E. Mohammed Rashid Jabr Al Suwaidi, and H. E. Omar Mohammed Lootah.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi confirmed that the committee is keen to apply correctly the provisions of “Law No. 1 of 2023 regarding the expropriation of property for public benefit in Ajman,” in coordination and cooperation with government authorities, each according to its function, in order to achieve the desired public benefit, with the need to preserve the rights of owners of the property through fair compensation for expropriation of property.
He stated that the law of expropriation of property for the public benefit is being implemented according to clear and precise procedures, whereby the competent committee studies the expropriation requests submitted by government authorities, in order to determine whether the project requires the expropriation of property in whole or in part, and to ensure the compatibility of the project with the standards of public benefit.
He added that one of the functions of the Expropriation Committee is to propose appropriate planning alternatives to implement the project without resorting to expropriation of property. In the event that the expropriation request is approved, a list of the names of the owners of the property expropriated for the public benefit shall be adopted, in addition to determining the share of each one of them in the compensation, while guaranteeing the right to complain about the value of the compensation, according to the scheduled deadlines.
